Topanga–“a place above”–is the name given to the area by its original inhabitants, the Native American indigenous Tongva people.

At the top of “a place above’, on the crest of the mountain overlooking Topanga Canyon and the San Fernando Valley, is Top O’Topanga. Originally planned and built as a mobile home park in the 1960s, Top O’Topanga is a now private, gated community.

It became a… what did it become actually? It is now a condominium …. etc.

In spite of its many changes, Top O’Topanga has retained its beauty, charm, and character.
