Transportation

In addition to the Los Angeles area public transportation systems (see https://www.metro.net/ and https://www.ladottransit.com/), Topanga is served by the following:

Topanga Beach Bus

New Freedom & Volunteer Mileage Reimbursement for seniors and disabled

LA County now provides a taxi door-to-door program that  covers 4 one-way trips 40 miles (total) per month. Since Topanga is remote, this limits its assistance. But for nearby doctors or grocery shopping, etc., it could fill in. Also, the county will pay for mileage reimbursement to drivers. For details, visit WDACS New Freedom Taxicab Services Program – WDACS New Freedom Program.

Cityride for seniors and disabled

This transportation assistance program is for individuals age 65 or older and qualified disabled persons in the City of Los Angeles and select areas of Los Angeles County. For more information, visit: https://www.ladottransit.com/other/cityride/ or call: 808-RIDE (808-7433) or (800) 559-1950 for the hearing impaired.

Access for ADA paratransit eligible

This service is available for any ADA paratransit eligible individual for any purpose and to or from any location within ¾ of a mile of any fixed route bus operated by the Los Angeles County public fixed route bus operators and within ¾ of a mile around METRO Rail stations during the hours that the systems are operational. It operates seven days a week, 24 hours of the day in most areas of Los Angeles County. It is a shared ride service that is curb-to-curb and utilizes a fleet of small buses, mini-vans and taxis. Fares are distance-based and Personal Care Attendants may ride with the qualified rider free. Different fares may be charged in other service areas. For more information, visit: https://accessla.org/. To become a registered Access customer and for commendations, concerns, or questions, call: 1.800.827.0829 or 1.800.827.1359 for the hearing impaired.
